Evolution Power Partners was one of the biggest winners of the Simplified Competitive Procedure Emergency Auction

Evolution Power Partners foi uma das maiores vencedoras do Leilão Emergencial Procedimento Competitivo Simplificado

On Monday, the Electric Energy Trading Chamber and Aneel carried out the first Simplified Competitive Procedure for contracting capacity reserve energy.

Evolution Power Partners was one of the biggest winners of the Simplified Competitive Procedure Emergency Auction, with a volume of approximately 17 billion/R$ for the generation of 344 MW in 4 natural gas thermal plants that will be built in Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso South for entry into operation by May 2022 with a 44-month contract. The emergency auction of contractual reserve energy ended with an average electricity negotiation of 775.8 megawatts (MW) and 1.22 gigawatts (GW). The total sold at the auction was R$39 billion. EPP sold 43% of the energy contracted in the emergency auction.

The simplified reserve procedure aims to maintain and protect the energy supply of the National Interconnected System (SIN) by signing a reserve energy contract for the period 2022 to 2025. Thermal energy projects powered by biomass, natural gas, fuel oil and diesel are used for reserves as well as wind and solar photovoltaic energy projects. The incident is another measure taken by the federal government to curb the possibility of energy rationing.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the contracted resources will contribute to the strengthening of the system and the recovery of the levels of the reservoirs of the hydroelectric plants, with prices lower than those currently charged for the additional resources used.
